IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING CORONAVIRUS

We know that this is a stressful time for everyone. We realize that the impact of the current situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) is different for each individual, but we’re all affected in some way. Our hearts go out to all during these challenging times. The animals currently in our care and our staff are always our number-one priority. We remain committed to continue to upholding the highest standards of animal care, customer service and health protocols. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created significant challenges all over the world. It is no different for the Joyful Rescues family. Because of this we have developed the following protocols:

OUR STAFF AND THE ANIMALS IN OUR CARE:

Our staff and the animals in our care are our highest priority. We will continue to monitor the CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL (CDC) website and stay up-to-date on directives and suggestions necessary to protect our staff and the animals in our care. We will continue to utilize our industry’s best practices to keep our animals healthy and safe. Joyful Rescues’ shelter buildings will be closed to the general public. We will be limiting human contact. Adoptions will continue but under a special protocol which has been developed. We are asking our staff members to stay safe. To follow the CDC recommendations and to limit human interactions during this stressful period.

ADOPTIONS:

Even though the pets at Joyful Rescues are being loved and cared for by staff, they still need homes and humans still need the love and comfort of their pets. We will continue to process adoption applications. We will continue to facilitate adoptions, but under a new process. Once an application has been approved, a staff member will contact the applicant to create an individualized plan and process to complete the adoption and facilitate the transfer of the animal to the forever human. During the adoption transfer, every effort will be made to limit contact between the humans. We will follow all CDC directives and any protocols issued.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Given the current CDC directives and the restrictions placed on public gatherings by the federal and New York State governments, we will be stopping all adoption events until further notice. This includes the stoppage of our Saturday showings at Wester Petsmart and Orchard Park Petsmart.

TO OUR BELOVED VOLUNTEERS:

We support you and will miss our personal contact with you during this difficult time. In addition to our obvious concern for the animals, WE CARE ABOUT YOU. Stay safe. Stay home. And, please reach out to us if you are in need. We are here for you as you have been here for us over the years.

YOU and YOUR PETS:
At this time, there is no evidence that companion animals, including pets, can spread COVID-19 or that they might be a source of infection in the United States.

FINAL MESSAGE:

We STRONGLY encourage every person to read the full CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL (CDC) STATEMENT regarding animal and human interactions. The CDC statement can be found here:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/animals.html

We encourage everyone to review the CDC guidelines regarding this pandemic DAILY. The link to the CDC page concerning Coronavirus is here:

Please stay safe and follow all recommended guidelines to keep yourself healthy!
